What is the difference between a soundcard and a midi / Audio Interface?
I have a laptop and want to record music on it but I'm not sure if I have to buy a Sound Card first and then buy an audio interface / midi? I know my laptop has a built-in sound card, but I'm not sure what that means. "I can buy a Usb Interface like this: http://www.piedog.com/musical_instruments/pro_music_live/computer_music/computer_hardware/audio_interfaces/m_audio- fast_track_pro.htm and use it to record in software such as Acid Pro 6? Any help would be appreciated!
A sound card is the device on a computer that is used to process all the digital information and records relating to the sound and send it to the speakers and / or headphone jack.
